Mr. Wood reminded
the staff that a Summer Enrichment Program will
begin June 3rd
and run through July 3rd
for any Choctaw students living in the Tucker
Community.
All staff at
Tucker voted for special awards for the year and the
following were selected: Ari Wallace, Assistant
Teacher; Teacher Support Staff, Patricia McKinzie;
Teacher: Melanie Benn; and Student Support Staff,
Sam Jim.

Choctaw Central Middle School Students Attend Teens
on the Move Youth Conference in
Jackson, MS
Andrew Jones,
Youth Court Division Diversion Coordinator at
Choctaw Tribal TEEN Court, took three CCMS students
to Jackson, MS to participate in a Teens on the Move
Youth Conference. This is a statewide conference
promoting alcohol and drug awareness organizations
or clubs. The intentions of the conference are to
educate and reward students in grades 7-12 for
promoting a healthy lifestyle. The conference sets
out to provide a platform for motivating sponsors to
continue providing guidance in leadership, alcohol
and drug prevention.

PRES Students Learn
about Safety
Students in Mrs.
Chamblee’s and Mrs. Fulton’s Pre-kindergarten
classes enjoyed visiting with EMT Ryan Chickaway and
EMT Dereck Moore from the Choctaw Health Center
Ambulance Service. The students had lots of
questions for the EMTs. They learned about water
safety and recreational safety. They also took a
tour of the ambulance.

Bureau Commemorates Schools’ Accomplishment
The Bureau of
Indian Education recently awarded all eight Choctaw
Tribal Schools with a plaque to commemorate the
accomplishment of achieving AYP for the 2006-07
school year. These awards represent the
extraordinary effort exhibited by all the school
staff, parents, and students within the Choctaw

FACE Student Receives Diploma
Dennis Jim Jr.,
of the Pearl River Community, received his High
School Equivalency Diploma on May 19, 2008. Dennis
participated in GED classes while enrolled with the
Pearl River FACE program during the 2007-08 school
year.

Appreciation Luncheon
at Tucker
Joe Wood,
principal of Tucker School, honored his faculty and
staff with an Appreciation Luncheon on the last day
of school. He served “the best for the best” with a
catered meal from The Cole House. All Tucker staff
were honored and thanked for a successful school
year due to their dedication to their professions
and their love for the children at Tucker School.
